Every month we showcase one of our amazing host families. This month, we are proud to introduce you to The Churches from Chula Vista, California; who have been hosting students for the last four years! Wow!

Here is a little more about our October Host Family of the Month, The Churches. Congratulations on a job well done!

How has hosting a student changed your life?

We have learned so much about other cultures through hosting international students. Building new relationships with both our students and their parents has really impacted our lives in a positive way. We feel so much joy when we see our students: succeed in their new environment, start to grasp the language, learn our culture, and begin to acclimate to the new living/school conditions.

What was your funniest host parent moment?

Well, we feel like it’s always funny seeing our students’ expressions when trying new foods.

What is the best advice for other host parents?

There are so many pieces of advice that we can give to other host parents, however, being patient is probably the most valuable advice that we can give. We also feel it’s important to be joyful, caring, kind, and attentive towards our host student. By showing God’s light in you allows others to feel your love. Oh, and always take time to laugh with your student!
