This month we are proud to honor Debi Thate as our Coordinator of the Month. Debi has done an amazing job at ensuring her host families and students have settled in and established a solid routine. Her love for her students shines through her ability to help her students feel loved and supported. We are lucky and grateful to have such a talented person on our team. Congratulations Debi!

What have you learned as a Homestay Coordinator with Twinn Palms?

I have learned to be patient as a Homestay Coordinator, God isn’t finished with me yet!

What was your favorite moment with your students?

I just love to listen to the boys when they talk about their struggles and how they have overcome them. They talk about American food and Coke which is always fun to listen to. The boys love to tell their stories of China, and the stories from each boy is very different.

What do you recommend as the number one “must have” for a host family?

The “must have” that I recommend to everyone is to have kindness, patience, peace, and love. Sorry, I can’t recommend just one! I look at this as more of a ministry than a job. I love children. I was in childcare for 24 years along with working as a GNA, a CNA, and a Med Tech in the field of nursing.
