In keeping with tradition, every month we showcase one of our amazing host families. This month, we are proud to introduce you to The Nunes Family from Angwin, CA; who have been hosting students for the last 1 ½ years! Wow!

How has hosting a student changed your life?

Of everything that we have learned through hosting, we feel that our knowledge and understanding of the Chinese culture has changed drastically. We are enjoying hosting and mentoring students from the Pacific Rim.

What was your funniest host parent moment?

Some of the funniest host parenting moments that we have experienced in our time with Twinn Palms is the occasional language interpretation mishaps. These always lead to a good laugh for everyone!

What is the best advice for other host parents?

The best advice we can give to other host parents is be patient and humble. Remember, this is a new and sometimes scary experience for these international students. Also, it’s important to keep in mind that in order to effectively teach and mentor one must first be willing to learn and understand.
