Every month we showcase one of our amazing host families. This month, we are proud to introduce you to The Gramajo’s from Fresno, CA; who have been hosting students for the last 2 ½ years! Wow!

How has hosting a student changed your life?

Hosting foreign exchange students has enriched our lives. It has given our family the opportunity to learn about others culture. It has given us the opportunity to have another daughter in our home to love and care for. Our ten year-old daughter and her host sister Laura from Brazil have built a special bond. They love spending time together and learning from one another. Our daughter, Jenelle, teaches Laura English while Laura teaches her Portuguese. This experience has been a blessing to our family.

What was your funniest host parent moment?

One of my favorite moments as a host mom was helping Laura get ready for her High School Formal. I had the opportunity to help her get her dress ready, take her to have her makeup done, and do her hair. This was a first time experience for the both of us and it was very special. When I dropped her off with friends she looked beautiful, she was glowing, and it brought tears to my eyes.

What is the best advice for other host parents?

Build lasting memories with your students. They will cherish them forever and they will never forget their experiences with you and your family.
