This month we are proud to honor The Piper Family from Fort Myers, Florida as our Host Family for the month of August. The Piper’s have been with Twinn Palms for just over two years and counting. In that time, they have been instrumental in helping their international students feel welcomed into their home by finding ways to celebrate both their cultures in a fun and innovative way.

Here is a little more about our August Host Family of the Month, The Piper’s. Congratulations on a job well done!

How has hosting a student changed your life?

Hosting international students has been an amazing experience not only for us, but for our boys. They have learned so much about the Chinese culture, food, history, and have made close friends for life. For this we will always be grateful.

What was your funniest host parent moment?

There have been so many funny stories that we could share, but the one that we distinctly remember (and always will) was when we were calling the down to come down for dinner and one of the boys suddenly blurts out, “toilet.” Learning English can be so difficult sometimes! It was a moment that we still laugh about to this day.

What is the best advice for other host parents?

The key to helping our students feel like they are a part of the family is to simply love them and treat them as if they’re your own children.
