Chicken can be cooked in so many different ways; this month we have decided to showcase a delicious version of Chinese Chicken. We are happy to introduce to you Chinese Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce. Pair this with a variety of other dishes for a bevy of flavors sure to make everyone happy.
Chinese Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce
Prep Time - 30 minutes
Service Size/Amount - Serves 2 people
Level of Difficulty - Easy
Stir Fry
10 ounces boneless chicken thigh
3 tbsp cornstarch
½ cup chopped white onion
½ cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
10 tbsp peanut oil
1 to 2 cups hot steamed rice
Black Pepper Sauce
¼ cup oyster sauce
1 tsp dark sweet soy sauce
1 tsp rice wine or dry sherry
½ tbsp black pepper (or more depending on individual taste)
Instructions
- Mix sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Dice chicken into ½ inch pieces.
- Toss chicken with cornstarch and shake off excess.
- Heat 8 tbsp peanut oil in a deep skillet or wok.
- Fry coated chicken pieces in hot oil until golden and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Heat remaining 2 tbsp peanut oil in skillet and add onion, cooking until translucent.
- Add peas and carrots. Cook for one minute.
- Stir in fried chicken pieces with sauce and cook until hot.
- Serve with rice and enjoy!
