February Homestay Report

Question 1. Describe activities you have done together as a family this month and or that you facilitated for your student?*

Question 2. How did your student celebrate the Chinese New Year and what did you learn about the Chinese New Year holiday? (If student is Chinese). What social activities did your student participate in this past month in the community with friends or school related? (Chinese and/or Brazilian students).*

Question 3. Have you shared the cultural celebration of Valentine's Day with your student? Some countries celebrate “couples day” but Valentines is for everyone! Is your family and or your student doing (did) anything special to celebrate it with each other or with friends? (This can include exchanging Valentines, baking something, participating in any school sponsored activity, etc.*
Valentine’s day is a Western holiday and can be a fun cultural experience for your students.

Question 1. Describe your student’s overall wellbeing physically- are they eating well? Are they getting enough sleep? Are they participating in any activities?*

Question 2. Describe any observations related to your student’s mood. Does your student seem calm, anxious, happy, sad, stressed, etc. Do you have any concerns about your student’s well being?*

Question 3. Has your student been tardy or absent from school this month? If so, how many days were they tardy or absent and were they excused or unexcused?*

Question 1. How is your student doing with his/her studies this new semester? Are they keeping up with their school work, including homework?*

Question 2. Has your student received a D or F on any quizzes, tests, papers, or projects? If yes, please list which subject. Does your student know they can ask their teacher for help or after school support? Most new students will need to be encouraged to ask for help since in some of our students’ academic culture it may not be common.*

Question 3: What classes does your student seem to be enjoying this semester and doing well in?*

Question 4: Does your student participate in any volunteer opportunities? Are there any you can share and encourage your student to participate in as it’s often a graduation requirement. Your Coordinator can also help connect your student to volunteering. What areas of interest does your student have that may translate to volunteering (maybe they enjoy: animal care at a shelter, peer tutoring in a subject they excel in, helping with children's programs, museum galleries, libraries, etc)*

Question 5: Has your student’s English comprehension, verbal and/or written expression improved since arrival? This can include even catching on to idioms, slang, or feeling more comfortable speaking with you.*

Question 6: Does your student have plans to travel or visit any universities this Spring? Please detail here any known plans and let your coordinator know ASAP since travel forms and approval are needed.*
